Car Throttle said it best about The Grand Tour: One For The Road ending on a high with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May in their final tv special. This is no action adventure to thrill you, rather a smooth ride where the joy is in where they are, together, doing what we’ve always known them to do. From Nyanga National Park to the Pandamatenga border post with Botswana these three lovable idiots we’ve seen on tv for decades have gone out of their way giving us Zimbabwe for its natural beauty as their best specials before this one had. Tea plantations to pine forest, and the rolling hills and mountains dipping to valleys making up what Clarkson called the “Irish Alps”. Those “niggling worries” of Mike Bartholomew were mutual, and just the same were swept away while watching them roll with the troubles along their way with laughter and smiles as they enjoyed the moment.
Their cars being old cars which they had always wanted to own was a departure from having criteria foisted on them which pigeon-holed them into driving interesting cars we have seen them drive over the years. Their run from the border to Kubu island was a journey which closed a loop on the 22 years spent working together. The shots and choice of music as they wrapped up with their ascent of Kubu Island was blissful closure.

“It just remains for me to say, thank you ... very much for watching ... It means a lot.” - Jeremy Clarkson
